Downfield Golf Club golf course is found just outside of the city of Dundee and is considered to be one of the finest inland course in the UK. Throughout its long history the course has been host to many golfing events such as SPGA Masters, PGA Scottish Open and is has also been a Final Qualifying venue for the Open Championship at Carnoustie in 1999 and more recently in 2007.

At the turn of the century a 9 hole course was laid at Downfield but the land was used for farming during the First World War. The club reformed in 1932 with a course laid by James Braid. Currently only 5 of the original holes have been incorporated into the course today.

Downfield golf course is surrounded by beautiful scenery and this alongside the wide array of wildlife on the course and many different species of tree within the perimeter makes the course feel like it is miles from civilisation.

Downfield is only 10 minutes form the centre of Dundee and by road and rail the course is 90 minutes from Glasgow and 60 minutes from Edinburgh. The golf club is within easy reach of other courses in the area such as St Andrews, Carnoustie and Gleneagles.Downfield Golf Club is an 18 hole parkland course with a par of 70 and a length of 5712m. There are a wide variety of challenges at Downfield with some water in play on at least seven holes.

There are five par 5s and the 11th is one of the finest holes you could play. Visitors are welcome to Downfield but are advised to book tee times in advance. Visitors tee times are restricted after 1pm on Sundays. Green fees for the course are available per round and per day. Prices differ according to season but remain reasonable through the year. The price is reduced if fairway are used or if winter greens are in operation.Buggies and trolleys are available to hire form the club. Caddies are available also, but must be booked in advance.Visitors are welcome to use all facilities on offer in Downfield’s Clubhouse.

The Clubhouse also boasts a large lounge area, a well-stocked bar, a dining room and a snooker room. The catering department supply a varied menu throughout the year for members and visitors. In winter months opening times are dependent on course conditions and daylight.The professional shop at Downfield is fully stocked for all needs and requirements of golfers.Downfield is a beautiful, memorable course which presents a challenges to every golfer that plays it.
