Scotscraig Golf Club is situated in the heartland of golf close to St Andrews and Carnoustie. It is located by the town of Tayport in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland. Since 1984, Scotscraig has hosted the Final Open Qualifying when The Open is played over St Andrews, most recently in 2010.Scotscraig Golf Club was founded in 1817, making it the world’s 13th oldest golf club. It was established by some members of St. Andrews Society of Golfers who wished to play more golf than the society afforded them. In 1923, the course was redesigned with the assistance of James Braid, five time Open Champion.

The course remains largely unchanged and retains many of Braid’s traditional architectural features.The golf course is located near to the coastline and offers an incredible landscape which has a unique blend of links and heathland features.Scotscraig is easily accessible and is around an hour’s drive from the city of Edinburgh. Public transport links are available but none direct.

The famous courses at St Andrews and at Carnoustie are within easy reach of the gold club.Scotscraig is an 18 hole links course with a par of 71 and a length of 5769m. The course features the sandy soil, fescue and gorse of classic links but it is complemented by rolling woodlands, a feature not common to links courses.

Visitors are welcome to Scotscraig and tee times are generally available, though it may be necessary to check availability in advance. Green fees for this course are reasonable and fairly standard for a course of such prestige and history. Packages for groups are available. Clubs, trolleys and buggies can be rented from the club.The Clubhouse is a very historic building with much of the club’s memorabilia decorating its walls. The clubhouse is fully equipped with locker rooms and changing facilities.It is a perfect place to unwind after a round of golf and has a bar serving a wide array of drinks and you can enjoy an extensive menu in the clubhouse’s dining room.The club’s professional shop is fully stocked with top brands at competitive prices and also offers free custom fitting and club repairs. There are also extensive coaching programmes.
